What is the CLAN 123 Fitness Challenge?

A two year long challenge (to coincide with the CLAN 1,2,3 Campaign - one charity has 2 years to raise £3 million), whereby an individual or a team of 3 enrol and pay a fee to take part. The idea is to have a goal to help yourself to a fitter and healthier you. The goal is achieved by undertaking a set amount of exercise over a certain period of time. There are 5 levels of challenge so whatever level of fitness you are currently at there is inevitably a higher and more taxing level to achieve. A proportion of every entry fee goes to CLAN but we would also encourage you to gain sponsorship. Every entrant receives a T-shirt, instructions, log sheets and a completion certificate.

Who can take part in the challenge?

Everyone can take part in CLAN’s 123 Fitness Challenge whatever age or fitness level, although children under the age of 17 will not be able to entre the level 5 challenges.

Do I need any Specialised Training?

If you can walk then you can take part in the challenge. CLAN can not provide specialist training, we suggest you join a club or a gym to get any specialist training, but we can provide motivational talks and co-ordinate with other participants should you so wish.

I’m already training to take part in a 10k race in a couple of months time – does this count?

Absolutely – taking part in this challenge is another incentive to achieving this goal and raising money for a worthy cause at the same time.

Can I exercise with other people who are taking part in this challenge?

Just contact us and we’ll see whether we can match you with someone else doing the same challenge level in your area.

Can I take part even though I don’t live in the Grampian area, Shetland or Orkney?

Yes – you may want to just take part in the challenge – you are totally free to do so. You may be a friend or relative of someone from Shetland, Orkney or the Grampian area that has used the services provided by CLAN – in which case feel free to take part in the challenge and raise money for your friend or relative at the same time.

Do all team members need to be of the same ability?

No – the onus is on the team members to complete the distance within the time limit in any way they would like or see fit. You may have a member of a team who is only capable of completing 1 kilometre in total but that achievement may be just as equal to that of the other team members’ distances.

Do all team members need to be the same age?

No – team members can be any age – we would particularly encourage families to take part.
